Rob West (Orlando City Manager) took on the task of the International Builders Show this year in January at the Orange County Convention Center with a total of 22 booth setups. It took a labor call of 101 men 6,157 hours to install and dismantle this show. Support crews from across the country, including Wes Weaver, Aaron Landry, John Hryniewich, David Leto, David Walters, Bill Stevenson, Brian Roberts, Rudolf Pospiech, Chris Leiser, Mark Hansen, Mike Glover, Sam Smithwick and Bill Redman were also sent in to assist Rob with this feat.

Sho-Link set the 60 x 75 Moen exhibit for Derse Exhibits. This booth took 12 men putting in long hours, 6 days to install and 3 days to dismantle. Wes Weaver, Sho-Link lead man on this booth states, “This was a very labor intensive job especially with placement of client property.”

Among the other booths that Sho-Link set were Viking, from Southwest Displays & Events an 80 x 100 exhibit, the 45 x 70 Simonton booth from Derse Exhibits, In-Sink-Erator a 40 x 50 exhibit also from Derse Exhibits and Formica a 45 x 65 booth from Southwest Displays.

Last year Scott Rudel was requested by Derse General Manager, Mike Bradley to attend a sales meeting to explain the benefits of using Sho-Link to a prospective new client. Simonton Windows was impressed with the fact that their project would be handled from all aspects through a single source. When they understood that Derse owned their own labor source, which would make for a seamless transition from their previous builder and their old labor source, they awarded Derse the job. This was a perfect example of how we can benefit all members with presenting Sho-Link to their clients.

Ken Broadbent was involved in all pre-show planning. He traveled to Pittsburgh to look over the booth properties and while there he worked with the design team to help make the drawing of the booth more efficient for installation. He coordinated with the Orange County Convention Center’s rigging department on the installation of the chain motors, as well as with the freight department on the staggered loads of booth properties.

Under the Sho-Link supervision of Ken Broadbent the 45 x 70 Simonton Exhibit at the International Builders Show took 13 men a total of 9 days to install, 2 of those days being around the clock installation. Due to the intensity of this installation Simonton was approved for early move-in on the January 3rd even though early move-in was not scheduled to start until the 4th. At the break of the show it took the same 13 men a total of 4 days to dismantle.

After the close of the International Builders Show Ken Broadbent participated in post-show meetings with Simonton to pre-plan for the 2007 show. If you would like Sho-Link to participate in any sales meetings with prospective clients please contact the corporate office.

“Thank you for the great service we received from Sho-Link before and during the 2006 International Builders Show. This was Simonton’s second experience at IBS and everyone from our sales and marketing teams were quite impressed with the great work ethic and kindness of the Sho-Link team members. Thank you for coming to the show and ensuring that our booth was a great success.

Ken Broadbent did an excellent job leading the team and he worked very hard to make sure everything was accomplished to our specifications. Jeff Brosseau and Chris Lieser stayed with the booth during the show hours to help our Simonton team and they were awesome. They were so kind and willing to help with everything. We are pleased to say that every Sho-Link team member was very nice and worked diligently. Thank you for making our experience a pleasant one at IBS.” Chris Monroe, Simonton Windows
