For the past few years Sho-Link has enjoyed a solid relationship with GPO Displays to handle our installation and dismantle needs in South America. Members who have utilized Sho-Link in South America have been pleased with the results. “We requested Sho-Link on a job we did in Mexico for our customer Michelin attending the Expo Mineria Show. Sho-Link sent a gentleman by the name of Mario from GPO Displays to help at the show site,” relates Pegg Doelger, Derse Exhibits. “I would like to extend my thanks to Mario for a job well done!” She continues, “Our lead person from Derse, John Pecunia, who was at show site, said Mario was a great person to work with. John could not say enough good things about Mario’s performance and work ethic.” For service needs in South America, including Mexico, Panama, Columbia, Chile, Brazil, and Argentina, orders should be placed directly with Sho-Link’s corporate office.
For the third year, Sho-Link was involved in the San Francisco art show, produced by Thomas Blackman and Associates at Fort Mason. This year’s show had some challenges. A large wedding was scheduled for the Saturday at Fort Mason, which put the start of installation two days behind normal. Also there was a major snow storm that closed the mountain passes, which delayed some booth properties and art work arriving at the show site on time. "City manager Don Dubro and show labor foreman Walt Bohne had assembled an outstanding labor crew of 45 personnel," states vice president Ken Broadbent. He further stated that "Don, Walt, Jim Streicher and Todd Uzel motivated the labor crew to their maximum performance." At the end of removal, Thomas Blackman asked that the crew be assembled. He stated to the crew, “This has been the best labor crew that I have worked with in the last 15 years.” Tom also sent a letter of appreciation to business agent Bob Owen of Local 510.
Sho-Link’s members met in Chicago for the annual owner’s meeting. This year, Sho-Link’s guests included Mike Davis and Kevin Nute of Cort Furniture and Larry Sexauer of Weiss & Company. Alan Scaccia discussed marketing, workshops with Nimlok, corporate updates, quality control, and new member search. Ken Broadbent provided updates on special events, safety, and estimating. Scott Rudel gave an overview of the city operations, new equipment purchases, personnel changes, and promotions. A new Board of Directors was elected: Bill Haney, Brian Cree, Derek Gentile, Mick Parrott, and Alan Scaccia. All of Sho-Link thank present and past Board of Director members for their service and guidance. We greatly appreciate our members support and patronage, and would like to pass on their compliments regarding our crews and procedures across the country.
Corey comes to Sho-Link with 16 years of exhibit related experience, including general foreman and exhibit I&D. Corey was elected Vice President of UBC Local 491 in 2004.
We are confident that our direct control of this area further
strengthens our services in these markets. |
