Each year, the Sho-Link Leadership Meeting gives company leaders, managers, and key contributors an opportunity to step away from their daily responsibilities and focus on the bigger picture. It creates space to exchange ideas, strengthen relationships, recognize accomplishments, and explore how Sho-Link can continue growing together.

The theme of the 2026 meeting, Reach Higher, reflected that purpose. Throughout the event, conversations emphasized connection, collaboration, empowerment, service, and continuous improvement. More than a slogan, Reach Higher became a challenge to look beyond current practices, support one another, and find new ways to strengthen the organization.

Coming Together Through Conversation

From the beginning, the focus was on bringing people together. Leaders from across Sho-Link gathered to share their experiences, discuss challenges, and offer ideas that could help the company move forward.

While the agenda included company updates and presentations, the heart of the meeting was the opportunity for meaningful discussion. Participants openly shared feedback, successes, and lessons learned. Each conversation provided a different perspective on how Sho-Link can improve its systems, develop its people, and continue delivering dependable service.

That willingness to listen and contribute reinforced one of the meeting’s central ideas: progress happens when people feel empowered to participate. The strongest solutions often come from individuals sharing their experiences, learning from one another, and working toward a common goal.

Breakout Sessions Focused on Growth

The breakout sessions became a centerpiece of the meeting experience, giving participants an opportunity to explore important areas of the business through focused discussion and idea sharing. One Team, Every City examined support systems, cross-city collaboration, communication, and resource sharing. Wired to Rise focused on technology solutions, communication tools, and process improvements that help employees work more effectively. Horizon Report explored marketing, industry involvement, networking, and opportunities to strengthen Sho-Link’s visibility within the events community. Beyond the Benchmark centered on customer service, partnerships, and delivering exceptional experiences for members and exhibitors. The Two-Way Stretch focused on empowerment, mentorship, ownership, trust, and leadership development. While each session approached a different aspect of the business, all reinforced the broader Reach Higher theme by encouraging collaboration, continuous improvement, professional growth, and a commitment to helping both employees and customers succeed.

Developing the Next Generation of Leaders

Employee development remained an important theme throughout the meeting. Conversations about mentorship, leadership development, and programs such as Rising Star reflected Sho-Link’s commitment to developing talent from within.

Creating opportunities for employees to learn, contribute, and take on greater responsibility helps build confidence and prepares the company for the future. It also ensures that valuable knowledge is shared throughout the organization rather than remaining with only a small number of individuals.

Leadership development does not begin with a title. It begins when employees are trusted to make decisions, encouraged to share ideas, and supported as they learn from new experiences. By investing in professional growth and mentorship, Sho-Link is investing in a stronger organization prepared to meet future challenges.

Celebrating Years of Service

Recognition was another meaningful part of the Leadership Meeting. Employees celebrating service milestones were honored for the experience, dedication, and contributions they have brought to Sho-Link.

·      Marc Santos

10-Year Service Award

·      Stephan Mahoney

20-Year Service Awards

·      April Panosian

·      Toni Jendras

·      Jim Genzano

Together, these milestones represent decades of service, knowledge, and commitment. Each recipient has contributed to Sho-Link’s continued success while helping shape the relationships and culture that define the company.

Recognizing these anniversaries also provided an opportunity to reflect on the importance of experience. Long-term employees carry valuable knowledge about the company, its customers, and the industry. Their willingness to share that experience helps prepare others to take on new responsibilities and continue Sho-Link’s tradition of dependable service.

Excellence in Partnership Award

The meeting also marked the presentation of the inaugural Excellence in Partnership Award, Sho-Link’s highest employee recognition honor.

Created to recognize individuals who exemplify leadership, collaboration, mentorship, integrity, and a commitment to helping others succeed, the award celebrates employees who strengthen partnerships, support their teammates, and represent the very best of Sho-Link’s culture.

Brian Roberts was named the first recipient of the award. He joined Sho-Link in August 1996, when the company was still in its early years. What began as a part-time role grew into a nearly 30-year career marked by leadership, continuous learning, and lasting relationships across the organization.

Reflecting on his career, Brian shared that the relationships he built and the trust others placed in him have been especially meaningful. He also emphasized that, regardless of experience level, there is always something new to learn. Most recently, Brian has been instrumental in the rollout of technology applications used on the show floor for client communication.

Sho-Link President Colleen Johnson recognized those same qualities, describing Brian as someone who helps make everyone around him better. She highlighted his combination of industry knowledge, continuous learning, and genuine commitment to helping others succeed.

As the inaugural recipient, Brian represents the spirit of the award and the broader Reach Higher theme. His career demonstrates that true leadership is defined not only by experience or responsibility, but also by humility, collaboration, trust, and a willingness to help others grow.

The Excellence in Partnership Award reflects Sho-Link’s belief that long-term success is built through strong relationships. By recognizing employees who invest in the people around them, the award reinforces a culture in which individual achievement and team success remain connected.

Reaching Higher Together

Several themes surfaced repeatedly throughout the meeting: stronger communication, cross-city teamwork, employee development, technology improvements, customer service, industry involvement, and recognition.

Although each breakout session approached the future from a different perspective, the discussions shared a common foundation. Sho-Link becomes stronger when people communicate openly, support one another, and take ownership of improving the organization.

The Leadership Meeting created an opportunity to step back from immediate responsibilities and consider what continued progress should look like. Participants shared practical feedback, identified opportunities for growth, and explored how Sho-Link can strengthen the systems and relationships that contribute to its success.

By the conclusion of the meeting, one message stood out clearly. Reach Higher was more than the theme of a single event. It represented Sho-Link’s ongoing commitment to growth, collaboration, innovation, empowerment, and service excellence.

The conversations, recognition, and shared experiences reinforced what continues to make Sho-Link successful: people working together, sharing their knowledge, supporting one another, and striving to become better every day.
