Sho-Link assists ASPCA and Karma Rescue Hurricane Harvey Rescue Efforts

On September 2nd, Sho-Link team members Rene Sandoval and Samuel Alacala from San Antonio helped in transporting 34 dogs from a Texas animal shelter to Austin Airport. Rene and Sam gave up their Saturday to drive from San Antonio to Austin with van and trailer to assist in shuttling the dogs and picking up pallets of dog food for the local shelter. A special Thank You to both Gentlemen that stepped up and showed tremendous selflessness and adaptability.

This opportunity was presented to us by Pura Naturals Pet and Exhibitree. Pura Naturals Pet has been working on the pet rescue efforts in Houston with 2 of the main charities they sponsor, the ASPCA and Karma Rescue.

Alex Tonner, Director of Operations with Karma Rescue/Paws for Life, extended a personal thank-you: “I just want to thank you from the bottom of our paws! Your guys were absolutely amazing on Saturday eve in Austin. They really were a huge help in getting the animals on board of the plane.”

Here is coverage of the rescue operation from this past weekend.

4 of the dogs placed on the plane have been hand selected for Karma Rescue’s incredible Paws for Life program. This program takes rescue dogs and places them with inmates that train them for 4 months, learning up to 60 different commands. Upon graduation, these dogs are gifted to U.S. Vets suffering from PTSD. All of us partnering together, not only saved dogs, but will help Veterans in need.

Karma Rescue is working on an added flight Thursday or Friday.

We at Sho-Link are proud to have helped in the efforts to save pets who would have been euthanized to make room for pets displaced by Hurricane Harvey.
